Politics Of Filth

Being a woman is a terribly difficult task, since it consists principally in dealing with men.
 -Joseph Conrad

Women enjoy place of honor and dignity in Islam & Eastern Society that is unparallel in history. The talents of both men and women are acknowledged equally in Islam. It is for the same reason that acquiring knowledge has been ordained for both equally. Social media is rapidly taking a major part of our daily life and its one of the major influencing factors today.

According to a research a young individual spends nearly quarter of his/her time on social media.

Users spend most of their time on websites where they can present and share their opinion. But with all its fruitful benefits, social media has some of very drastic side effects one of which is the character assassination through social networking websites (Twitter & Facebook.)

Maligning political opponents for political gains is not a new thing in our society. Its history is as old as the history of mankind. But it takes a dangerous dimensions when comes to female segment of our society. In eastern male dominant society, Female segment has always been given the honor and respect. But sometimes we put this segment to shame by creating such situations which are purely based on filth and propaganda.
Talking specifically in Pakistan, We all came across situations when female representatives of a politically were being disrespected at a mammoth level. This politics of filth got momentum with the growth of Social Media in Pakistan. The country where a significant number of its population belongs to generation Y, Unlimited access to information is not a dream anymore. When country is looking towards democratic transfer of power, this filth has taken a totally new form. All of a sudden attacks on female representatives and lashing out leaderships grabbed hype. Be it Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Iman Mazari, Sharmila Farooqi, Bisma Kasuri and others. Not a single party has survived to face such heinous situations.

This all started when Social Media Team of PTI (Claims to be pioneers in using social media for politics in Pakistan) started targeting female opponents by intruding into their Facebook profiles.

Get up in morning and first thing you witness on Twitter and Facebook homepages is some PTI troll getting into stupid argument & making ill Twitter Trends.
Cut it short, my point here is to present my Party’s stance on this important and sensitive Issue. PML(N) is the party of ethics & values and believes on giving respect to even its opponents despite any political differences.

PML(N) ensures respect, dignity, protection and empowerment of women as granted by Islam.
It takes every measure to promote participation of women in national development to ensure their social, political and economic empowerment &  adequate representation of women in all elected institutions at all tiers was made possible by leadership. Party has taken far reaching measures to provide legal and social protection to working women. We believe that criticism should be limited to policies and not on personal affairs of the opponent.

PMLN leadership has categorically disowned those who disrespect others specifically women and said they not at all associated with party and supporters are strongly discouraged to involve in such matters. Maryam Nawaz, Iman Mazari and Sharmila Farooqi all of them are respected ladies and deserve the same honor and respect which all of our sisters does. Its my request to all those standard bearers of eastern values that kindly discourage such actions and not to seek entertainment from such sensitive issues.
