Are We Going Towards Self Destruction?

In 66th session of the General Assembly held last month at UN Headquarters, in New York. Leaders from all over the world gathered to put in debate the issues arising on the globe. From Pakistan, delegation containing more than 2 dozen pupil arrived on Sept 17th, for a 11 day visit. And as expected the most lavish accommodation was put in servings. Above 25 rooms costing millions In PKR rented for the privileged few who I doubt are trying their best to serve their countrymen. What am I wrong? Where our Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar addressed the Assembly with her prominent pearl necklace and Hermes bag costing millions & every member of the most favoirite govt. with their Gucci & D&G suiting costing millions.

At the same time There was a man sitting on the other side of hall who was wearing a suit costing merely 1000 bucks & came from the room just a few miles from the HQ which was tagged with a mere $30/Night Price. He only has a small house inherited his father (staying there till today not the presidential palace) and owned a 1977 made Peugeot 504 which was auctioned in January 2011 to raise funds for disabled & needy people. This man does not take his salary as president but teaches as a lecturer with a salary amount around $250. He always carries a bag containing delicious food to his lunch made by his wife not any top rank chef. he prefers to travel in economy-class plane than getting a chartered one. Now question arises here that who was the person? Well he was no other the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He as we all know is famous among masses for his simplest lifestyle and stands a symbol of inspiration for all the developing countries under pressure of USA including my beloved motherland Pakistan.

My point of mentioning the never ending characteristics of the Iranian president is that are we as a nation in position to avail these luxuries? Our Leaders leads the country where:
  • 43% of people get a single meal a day or not at all.
  • Where every business is packing up because of load-shedding.
  • Where electricity do rest for long 18 hours.
  • Dengue is taking lives daily and thousands of victims are still under observation.
  • Flood has destroyed thousands of homes & cash crops.
  • A country in which one side is being bombard by drones & on the second end people are killing their fellow countrymen.
The Question is Where are we heading? Are we going towards self destruction or not?

Decide yourself.
